Opportunity for Impact
We are seeking a Senior Commercial Interior Designer to lead the design and delivery of complex commercial interior projects from early programming and space planning through construction administration.

This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced commercial interior designer who can independently lead projects, develop strong client relationships, and mentor less-experienced designers. The position also offers potential advancement into a management role for a successful senior contributor.

Role & Responsibilities
– Lead programming and space-planning activities for commercial interior projects
– Perform and oversee field verification and documentation of existing conditions
– Develop and manage construction documentation throughout the project lifecycle
– Lead finish, material, furniture, and fixture selection and specification
– Develop and deliver design presentations to clients and project stakeholders
– Provide 3D visualization and rendering as required to communicate design concepts
– Lead construction administration activities and coordinate design-related issues through project completion
– Apply applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, and industry standards throughout the design process
– Maintain effective communication and long-term relationships with clients
– Support business development and repeat-work efforts through strong project delivery and client service
– Mentor and provide guidance to junior design professionals

Professional Qualifications
– Approximately 10–20 years of professional interior design experience
– Significant experience leading commercial interior design projects; residential-only experience will not meet the requirements of this position
– NCIDQ certification required
– Strong programming and space-planning experience
– Demonstrated experience developing and managing construction documents
– Strong 3D rendering and visualization capabilities
– Proficiency with Revit
– Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
– Strong working knowledge of applicable building codes and interior design industry standards
– Experience with finish, material, furniture, and fixture selection and specifications
– Experience leading construction administration activities
– Demonstrated ability to lead client-facing projects and maintain professional client relationships
– Ability to mentor and guide junior design staff
– Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

– Base annual salary of approximately $93,000–$107,000
– Initial six months working full-time from the Richmond office
– Hybrid schedule following the initial six-month period, with three days in the office and two days working remotely
